MSAZ Kick-Off Apéro! HS18 Welcoming Event
Whether you are a newcomer, an advanced (PhD) student or an alumni, you are all cordially invited to our traditional semester-kick-off! First, we will present our association and the semester program and will then have the chance to get to know each other better over an aperitif.
What is the Relationship between Islamic Law and International Humanitarian Law?
Dr. Ahmed Aldawoody is a Legal Adviser for Islamic Law and Jurisprudence at the International Committee of The Red Cross (ICRC). The presentation will give an overview of the principles regulating the use of force under the Islamic law of war. It indicates the degree of compatibility between these Islamic principles and the modern IHL principles which may give parameters into how these Islamic principles can help in limiting the devastation and suffering caused by contemporary armed conflicts, on the one hand, and the challenges facing humanitarian practitioners in Muslim contexts, on the other.
MSAZ Jummah – Weekly Friday Prayer
The «Jummah» Prayer at the university takes place every Friday during term time is open for everyone!
In the bi-weekly meeting called «Quranic-Reflections», we try to ponder the Quran on a spiritual and intellectual level. Our aim will be to benefit from the Quran as a source of answers and in particular, to approach it as a source of questions and reflections. By reading Tafsirs and discussing on them, we can expand our knowledge of the Quran and in this way try to come closer to it. We are always very much looking forward to an enriching presence of muslim and non-muslim fellow student sisters.
